See if these options match your design plans for bathroom remodeling in 2021!
light and bright reigns supreme
The most prominent bath design trend in 2020 was the selection of light and bright shower surrounds. Our most popular shower colors this year were white; Calcutta, a clean white with dramatic, natural-toned grey veining; and Silver White marble, a creamy white blended with clouds of silvery grey.

“I’m not surprised to hear that light finishes have been so popular this year,” says Improveit Project Consultant Tim Parsons. “They’re really stylish in a subtle way, so you get a beautiful look without being intrusive.”
No window in your bathroom? The light-and-bright bathroom trend is perfect for you. “A lot of times, we work in bathrooms that have no windows,” Parsons says. “Choosing a light color for the shower is a great way to help a bathroom feel brighter when you don’t have any natural light.”
This was the case for Laura and Blake Williams of Columbus who chose a Calcutta surround. “It’s so nice and bright, and it feels really clean in there,” Laura says. “I have a big family, and everyone who comes to see it is amazed by the difference.”
low-cost trick for a high-end look
Like 75% of Improveit customers, the Williamses chose a white base for their walk-in shower, but they could have gone with Calcutta from floor to ceiling. Most Improveit shower wall colors are available with matching shower bases to create a truly impactful look. But when is the right time to match your shower base to your surround?
“One of the features our clients love most about the Improveit shower system is that it’s grout-free because there’s no tile,” Parsons says. “But we do have a share of clients that still want the appearance of a fully tiled shower. By starting with our Reveal surrounds, and matching the base and ceiling panel with your shower surround, we can give the same effect at a much more affordable pricepoint.”

beautiful bathing options
Opting for a tub-shower combo rather than a walk-in shower? It’s no surprise that the light-and-bright trend holds true with the tub. More than 80% of Improveit clients chose a white bathtub, with biscuit and gray options each selected by about 6% of clients. The straight tub style was selected most often for a clean, smooth design, followed by the Classic bathtub style, which features a contoured apron (the front side of the bathtub), and beautiful edge detailing for a traditional touch.
Wondering what bath and shower design combination will look best in your bathroom remodel?
