Who: Tabitha Bundenthal
Where: Tipp City, OH
What: Whole-house historic window replacement
Improveit was thrilled to have a hand in updating the curb appeal and energy efficiency of this historic Dayton-area home. As is often the case when renovating a historic home, Tabitha had to work with her local historic preservation board to gain approval for her preferred product selections, including Improveit’s Performax54 windows.
“After a few meetings, we were able to come to an agreement with the city,” she says, noting that the Tipp City Restoration Board eventually determined that Improveit’s Performax54 windows had a classic look and long-lasting quality would work well for the project. “It was mainly about the look – they didn’t want the windows to look too ‘new.’ But really, they were just happy someone was ready to take care of this home.”
With that approval, Improveit’s team followed lead-safe work practices while removing the home’s original single-pane wood windows, which had deteriorated significantly due to lack of maintenance. This isn’t uncommon for wood windows, but Tabitha won’t have to worry about the longevity of her Performax54 windows. Thanks to their state-of-the-art performance technology, the new double-hung and slider windows will greatly improve the home’s energy efficiency, and are backed by a lifetime warranty that Improveit will honor if any issues arise.
As part of an extensive renovation of this 100-year-old home, the impact these new windows make is already remarkable. “Now that the windows are in, it feels like we’re the talk of the town!” Tabitha says. “We had four or five different people come out to give us quotes, and the people we spoke with from Improveit – it felt like we had known them forever. Our installer, John, communicated very well, and answered all our questions before we knew to ask them.”
