T-Core Insulated Window Frame
Strength and efficiency are two essential characteristics of the best window frames. They contribute to how the window will perform as an integral part of your home. ImproveIt windows maximize both features. Here’s how.
Window frames house the window’s glass and spacer components (together, this comprises the glazing unit), and tie window into the structure of the home. To keep these components safe and ensure secure installation over time, only the strongest frames will do.
ImproveIt windows achieve that strength in three ways:
We use only virgin vinyl.
Unlike re-ground or recycled vinyl that has already begun to degrade from its previous uses, virgin vinyl offers exceptional strength and durability essential for windows to stand the test of time. We selected our virgin vinyl blend to give you get the longest-lasting, best-performing window frames that won’t rot, fade, chip, or peel over time.
We fusion-weld our frames.
Just like the steel frames of the skyscrapers, the frames of our windows are welded together. Mechanical fasteners can fail over time, making the glass and spacer components (and the frame itself) susceptible to breakage. The welded seams of ImproveIt windows’ frames are actually stronger than the vinyl itself!
We reinforce from the inside out.
Inside our frames, I-beam reinforcement provides additional structural integrity so ImproveIt frames won’t warp, bow, or sag. This is essential as building materials can expand, contract, and settle over time. By taking additional strengthening steps from the start, we make sure our window frames keep the glazing units protected, and that the whole window stays securely installed.
The structural integrity built into ImproveIt window frames isn’t the end of the performance story. Window frames are often overlooked as a factor in the window’s thermal performance – but not by ImproveIt.
The cavities inside window frames are prime spaces for heat to transfer through the window from outside the house. This is called conduction, and it’s easy to limit it by filling those voids with the right insulation. At ImproveIt, we use T-Core spray-foam insulation that expands to every nook and cranny as it fills the frames. This application provides more air-tightness and better insulation performance than pre-cut strips of insulation that are pushed into the cavities. How do we know? Because we used to do it the other way. We made the upgrade to frames filled with dense, thermal spray-foam insulation because we knew it would give you the best window possible.
