Clay Windows are the Perfect Color on this Troy Home
The Clay Windows IN this double-hung Window replacement complement special architectural details
Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood, Carole VanOldsol’s Troy home doesn’t see a lot of vehicle traffic – but that doesn’t mean curb appeal isn’t important. Her charming, well-kept brick ranch features a decorative half-round sunburst over the home’s prominent front window. When it was time for window replacement, ensuring her new window matched this clay-colored accent was essential.
A Balanced Combination of White & Clay Windows
Built in 2006, Carole’s home originally featured clay-colored windows in every room. By the time she met the Improveit team in 2021, the windows were well beyond the expected lifespan of builder-grade windows. After 5 to 7 years, many homeowners begin to see fogging and condensation between the glass, cracks in the vinyl, difficult operation, and draftiness that can drive up heating and air conditioning costs.
Knowing it was time for an update, Carole selected Improveit’s energy-efficient double-hung replacement windows. Not only did Improveit offer the quality and lifetime warranty she valued for her investment, they were also able to match the clay sunburst accent and adjacent clay-colored garage door and exterior trim perfectly.
Come installation day, Carol says “the installers did an amazing job” with all 10 of her windows, as well as the white sliding glass door she chose to for the home’s kitchen-sunroom connection.
What Colors Go with Clay Windows?
An even better surprise, Carole discovered that by working with Improveit, she could chose different colors for the exterior and interior of her windows. With that in mind, she chose clay exteriors with white interior for her front windows, and white interiors and exteriors for the rest of the home.
Choosing white interiors was a better option for the décor inside Carole’s home, which begs the question: What colors go with clay windows?
It’s easy to see that clay windows and accents are a great complement to the warm brick of Carole’s home exterior and the surrounding landscape. As a warmer but slightly darker neutral, clay windows also complement facades that lean warmer, such as natural stone, travertine, and sandy colors. Sage green is another attractive color that works well with clay windows.
If your home exterior is cooler in tone – think blues, grays, and slate tones – white or black windows would be a better choice.
