Goodbye bathtub, hello walk-in shower

When Jim & Khristeene Richards bought their Springfield, Ohio-area home, much of the property had been beautifully renovated by previous owners. Still, the couple wanted to make specific updates to suit their own taste and needs, including a refresh to the master bathroom.  

 After meeting Improveit at the 2020 Miami Valley Home & Garden Show, Jim says Improveit team members “walked us through how the [materials] are made, what it’s made of, why it’s a better product than what’s currently out there.” They were impressed by the durability of Imprioveit’s acrylic shower surrounds, and the ability to get the look of stone without the maintenance of tile and grout. 

During their in-home consultation, the Jim and Khristeene determined that a tub-to-shower conversion would be the best option for their master bathroom. Together with their Improveit design consultant, the couple selected the colors, features, and fixtures they wanted for their new walk-in shower, including travertine walls, and complimentary oil-rubbed bronze fixtures that matched the finishes in the rest of the home. 

While the Covid-19 pandemic caused some interruptions to work schedules and materials orders, the Richards were understanding of the process and thoroughly pleased with Improveit’s efforts to give them a 5-star remodeling experience, even under challenging circumstances. “There are supply chain issues going on, and that’s just a matter of life right now,” Jim says. “It’s not Improveit’s fault – they can only do what they can do. But when they do have the parts and materials they need to get the job done, they’re going to do a great job for you.” 

The completed shower makes a beautiful, functional difference in the Richards’ master bathroom. “We don’t miss the tub at all, and we love the bench seat and the functionality of the grab bar,” Jim says. “And the niche is something we’ve always wanted! We see this room as the first room that is completely done and updated in our home.”
