Cottage Style Kitchen in Grove City Gets a Facelift
With no layout changes, kitchen refacing was ideal for this grove city kitchen remodel
This 1970s cottage style kitchen in Grove City was full of charm, but had seen better days. The dark brick backsplash, dated cabinets, and green floral wallpaper were ready for an update that would brighten the space while maintaining the home’s cozy character.
Having worked with Improveit on a bathroom remodel in 2011, homeowner James Valentine reached out to our team again when it was time to explore kitchen remodeling options. With surfaces to refresh and functionality to update, but no need to change the layout, kitchen refacing turned out to be the ideal solution for the Valentine’s kitchen. The result is a great transformation that stayed true to the kitchen’s original cottage aesthetic.
Whitewashed brick backsplash anchors grove city kitchen remodel
Over the course of just a few days, the Valentine’s Grove City kitchen remodel came to life. With no change to the cabinet layout, the countertops went in first with installers removing the dated wood-look laminate and placing fresh Rocky Shores quartz in its place. From there, the cabinet doors and drawer fronts were removed, and the drawer boxes repaired where needed, inside and out.
With the countertops in and prep work done, refacing began in earnest. After refinishing the cabinet fronts, the Improveit team installed all new cabinet doors and drawer fronts in the Valentine’s choice of Shaker style in satin white. The traditional Shaker pattern helped the kitchen retain its cozy feel, while the white finish and light countertops brightened the entire space. Inside the cabinets, new pull out shelving and a tilt-out sink base cubby puts everything within easy reach.
Among the standout features of this remodel was the homeowner’s decision to whitewash the original brick backsplash. Softening the brick’s dark tones was an easy step that kept the rustic cottage style kitchen feel while ensuring the space felt brighter and more inviting. The homeowner also opted for all new appliances to refresh the look and functionality of their new space, along with additional ktichen accessories, including a new sink and faucet.
