Stunning Cottage Kitchen Design with Green Cabinets
Refreshing their kitchen with a bold color let the Cowans bring cottage charm into the 21st Century
When Becky and Chuck Cowan first reached out to Improveit about a kitchen update, they had a vision: Keep the cozy cottage charm they loved about their kitchen, but bring the space into the present day with better functionality and a fresh design.
Their U-shaped kitchen layout worked well for everyday cooking and gathering, and had great natural warmth and character, especially with the beautiful wood floors. But the original oak cabinetry and laminate countertops were outdated and didn’t match the style the couple was looking for. One element they did want to keep? Their floral backsplash! With that in mind, their Improveit designer knew the finished kitchen would have to complement the backsplash rather than compete with it.
Cottage Style Elevated with Bold Green Kitchen Cabinets
Working with the Improveit team, Becky and Chuck chose to refresh the space with one key design move that set the tone for the entire makeover: Green raised-panel cabinetry in our Westerville door style. This standout color instantly modernized the space while preserving the cottage feel that made the kitchen feel like theirs.
The new cabinet color also paired beautifully with their existing wood floors and floral backsplash, breathing new life into the kitchen without the hassle and expense of replacing everything.
A Functional & Beautiful Kitchen Update
In addition to refacing the cabinets, the couple selected Luna Pearl granite to bring the countertops up to date too. The smooth light finish helped offset the green cabinets, keeping the kitchen bright. The peninsula also got a thoughtful change. What used to be a two-level surface with a step-down ledge is now one continuous counter-height span of stone. This simple rework creates a larger, more usable prep and serving space; makes the kitchen feel more cohesive; and still allows for comfortable seating.
Everyday convenience was a must for Becky too. With that in mind, their kitchen design includes lazy susans in the kitchen’s two blind corner cabinets, a pull-out trash drawer to keep the trash can hidden, and a new stainless steel sink and matching facuet. To finish the look, a cabinet valance in the same rosemary shade ties the cabinets together over the sink work area and gives the entire space a polished fee.
With its cottage charm intact, he Cowan’s kitchen is warm, welcoming, and wonderfully them! We’re grateful they chose Improveit for thier beautiful kitchen update and know they’ll love all the family gatherings their new space will have.
