Stylish Master Bathroom Shower Remodel Comes Together Beautifully

For this shower Remodel Columbus Ohio couple found the right combination of professional installation and DIY touches

When Ashleigh Walker found Improveit at the 2024 Ohio State Fair, she and her husband Matt had been methodically updating their Columbus home, and bathroom remodeling was next on the list. While they intended to do some of the work themselves with help from Ashleigh’s dad, they knew looking into a home improvement company would help them better understand their remodeling options and potentially reduce their need to DIY.

“We bought our house about two years ago,” Ashleigh told the Improveit team back in August after their visit to the Fair. “It was built in the 70s, so it was pretty dated. We pulled out the vanities, and when my dad was re-doing the floor we discovered it wasn’t level. Between that and wanting to completely gut the shower, we wanted to look into options for our master bathroom shower remodel.”

Columbus Ohio Shower Makeover Takes Shape

Ashleigh and Matt took some time to weigh their options after meeting with contractors, but ultimately chose Improveit for their shower makeover and bathroom flooring replacement. During their design meeting, the couple chose Grayline as their shower wall color, paired with the Fairfield tile pattern and accented with matte black fixtures.

“I liked the dark grout look, but when we sat down and looked at our wall color options, the black just didn’t flow right,” Ashleigh says. “We wanted something more subtle and Grayline was exactly what we were looking for.”

Rather than black grout lines like Improveit’s Othello wall color, Grayline has medium gray grout lines that give the same effect without the stark black-and-white contrast. The 6-by-24-inch Fairfield tile pattern gives a linear design to the Walkers’ shower that’s carried throughout the bathroom. The large-format tile pattern is mimicked by the luxury vinyl tile flooring in white and gray Carrara Cotton, and shows up in existing design accents like open cubbies for linens, and the board-and-batten wainscoting that Ashleigh installed herself. Matte black towel hooks, drawer pulls, and wall accents complete the stylish, transitional design.

Shower Upgrade Done – Time to Get Away!

“We’re pretty happy with how the bathroom turned out, and it’s truly the best shower,” Ashleigh says. “The acrylic walls and smooth glass shower door are so easy to clean with a squeegee, unlike the textured glass we had our previous shower door.” She adds that working with Improveit was easy, and “both Ben and Mark were wonderful during our initial consultation. Very knowledgable and helpful throughout the process.”
