Creating a Spa-Like Bathroom in Mt. Juliet

this shower remodel before-and-after solved the problem of old tiles that wouldn’t come clean

2024 was the first year Improveit exhibited at the Tennessee State Fair, and it was also the first time Jan and Lee Bascom worked with a home improvement contractor. Other than building their home in 2017, Jan says the couple hadn’t worked with any contractors, but they knew it was time to make an update to the tile shower in their primary bathroom.

“I couldn’t get the tiles and grout clean, and it was so depressing,” Jan recalls. “I also think mildew was setting in. The tile was dark and I didn’t feel clean when I got out of the shower.”

The Bascoms primary bathroom featured a side-by-side garden tub and shower, and while the tub was in good condition, but the shower’s grout issues were wearing on them. “We had discussed it several times and were finally interested in pursuing a company to remodel the shower,” Jan says. “When we encountered the Improveit at the fair, the rep was so friendly and engaging but not pushy. We left there excited to check them out and see what Improveit had to offer.”

Finding a Spa-Like Shower Solution that will last

Working with the Improveit team, the Bascoms chose a fresh, marble-look shower design that’s as easy to clean as it is beautiful. Their design selections included a clean white shower base with Santorini White walls and a complementary white recessed niche for shampoo bottles. The design was finished with

brushed nickel fixtures, including a 24-inch grab bar, handheld showerhead, Brantford shower valve, and a convenient foot rest for shaving. To accommodate the side-by-side layout, installers added a glass partition on top of the knee wall between the tub and shower, and made sure the bathtub got the same high-quality finish as the new shower. A swing door on the adjacent shower wall completes the polished new look.

“We love our new shower,” Jan says. “It is so pretty and functional and we are very happy with the end product. They also wrapped our garden tub in the same design for a beautiful spa look bathroom.”
