Refreshing Warm Wood Kitchen Cabinets
The Durants wanted to keep their kitchen’s warm wood tones while brightening the space
From the time they moved into their Westerville home in 2018, Jane and Charles knew they wanted to update the ktichen. While the layout worked, the overall look felt heavy, with medium-tone recessed-panel wood cabinets and dark granite countertops that absorbed light rather than reflected it.
After researching reputable companies online, they chose Improveit to help bring their vision to life.
Warm Wood Kitchen Cabinets with a Modern Look
The Durants’ goal was to give the kitchen a more modern look without sacrificing the warmth of their existing wood cabinets. With the help of an Improveit designer and skilled installers (Charles asked for only the best!), an easy cabinet refacing refacing process transformed their existing cabinetry into a look they love. Installers replaced their recessed panel cherry doors with door and drawer fronts in our Norwood door style featuring a clean, slab-front design. They selected our toffee finish for a slightly lighter wood tone that keeps the richness of warm wood kitchen cabinets while giving the space a more updated, contemporary feel.
By simplifying the door style and subtly lightening the finish, the kitchen maintains its cozy character while shedding the heavier, more traditional look it once had.
Wood Cabinets with White Countertops for a Brighter Space
The biggest impact came from the updating the kitchen countertops and backsplash. By swapping the dark granite for Calacatta Elysio quartz, the entire kitchen instantly felt lighter and more open.
Pairing wood cabinets with white countertops creates the perfect balance: Warmth from the cabinetry and brightness from the reflective quartz surface. The result is a space that feels clean, airy, and welcoming, with light bouncing throughout the room.
This project is a perfect example of what’s possible when you blend modern design with timeless materials, and we’re grateful to welcome the Durants to the Improveit family!
