When Cincinnati homeowner Dylan Luman noticed the bathrooms in his 1965 home were beginning to deteriorate, he turned to Improveit for help. This tub-shower combo in his upstairs hall bathroom is the second Improveit bathroom in his home, and Improveit’s 60,000th project overall! See how we surprised him!
“The main reason I reached out to Improveit in the first place was because of the warranty,” Dylan says. “It’s phenomenal. If there’s ever a problem, I know where to call and that the work is covered.”
Updating a Cincinnati Tub-Shower Combo
Design-wise, Dylan knew that he wanted to keep the tub-shower combo in his upstairs bathroom to maintain the value and functionality of the home. “In the master bathroom, a walk-in shower made more sense with the layout of the bathroom and because I use that shower every day,” he says. “But I didn’t want to lose the option of having a bathtub down the road, whether that’s for myself, kids, or someone who buys the home in the future.” He also knew that he wanted to keep the bathroom light and neutral, which matches the finishes in the rest of the home.
For the final design, Dylan chose a straight white bathtub with smooth Roman Stone walls, and added storage space with two matching single-tier corner shelves. Classic brushed-nickel fixtures from our Gibson line complete the look with a matching curved shower rod.
The Improveit installers for Dylan’s project agreed that he updated the Cincinnati tub-shower combo at the right time. The team didn’t even need tools to pull many of the tiles off the wall, which indicated that the grout was deteriorating after decades of water exposure in the shower. Behind the walls, the old insulation was no longer serving its purpose. The team replaced the insulation, repaired the framing and plumbing where necessary, and installed all new waterproof backerboard before finishing with Dylan’s selected acrylic materials.
“I’ve really been trying to update the home to add value, and I know bathrooms are a big part of that,” Dylan says. He’s absolutely right! Our team is so thankful that Dylan let us celebrate our 60,000th project in his home, and we’re honored to provide a great finished product for him, supported by a lifetime warranty. Thanks for being part of the Improveit family, Dylan!
