The Improveit team was thrilled to celebrate its 60,000th project installation with Cincinnati homeowner Dylan Luman in February. The fact that this project was Dylan’s second bath remodel with our team made the occasion even sweeter!
We caught up with Dylan at home during the installation and were pleased to hear that one of the our team’s favorite benefits of working with Improveit is also one of Dylan’s.

Updating a 1965 Cincinnati BATHROOM
Dylan has been making progress updating his 1965 Cape Cod-style home since he purchased it in 2015. A kitchen update and solar panels on the roof were both checked off his list, and he has plans to complete the basement and an unfinished area above the garage. But before tackling those spaces, Dylan says he knew the bathrooms needed more than just a style update.
“They were really showing their age and I needed to make sure I got them taken care of before they got worse,” he says.
Come installation day, the Improveit team confirmed Dylan’s suspicions. While they didn’t find anything troubling behind the walls, they did note that the shower tile was falling off easily, suggesting that the grout was failing.
This is typical of tile showers, especially as they age. It’s also a main reason many homeowners replace their bathroom tile with acrylic.
“It was good to hear that there wasn’t any damage because with a 60s-style home, you never know what’s behind the walls,” Dylan says. “I hadn’t touched the bathrooms since I moved into the house, so I’m glad I took on these projects when I started noticing damage, before they got any worse.”

Starting with the master bathroom in spring of 2022, Dylan opted to replace the tub-shower combo with a walk-in shower. Fast forward to early 2023 and the Improveit team returned to update the tub-shower combo in the upstairs hall bathroom.
“Both bathrooms had a tub-shower combo to start, but I only kept one of the bathtubs,” he says. “In the master bathroom, a walk-in shower made more sense with the layout and because I use that shower every day. But I didn’t want to lose the option of having a bathtub down the road, whether that’s for myself, kids, or someone who buys the home in the future.”
