Big dreams are coming true for one local family! Improveit Home Remodeling is thrilled to announce the winners of our 2025 Home Makeover Sweepstakes: Columbus homeowners Tenell and Lamonte Griffin!
The Griffins’ winning entry came during the 2025 Ohio State Fair, but this wasn’t their first time entering the sweepstakes. In fact, Tenell says they’ve entered Improveit’s Home Makeover Sweepstakes several times over the years. This year, their persistence paid off in a big way!
Even more exciting? The Griffins live just down the road from Improveit’s headquarters, making this win hit even closer to home for our team. We got a chance to visit with the Griffins to award their official “big check” and celebrate the start of their upcoming kitchen transformation.
H2: Getting Ready for Some Well-Deserved Kitchen Updates
The Griffins have lived in their current home since 2017, and like many homeowners they’ve spent the past several years making updates along the way. “My husband is really handy and we’re big on doing stuff around the house,” Tenell told us, “so we’ve made some updates over the years.”
From bathroom remodels to new kitchen flooring, the Griffins have put time and care into creating a home they love. One project, though, has continued to stand out on their wish list: Updating the kitchen cabinets.
“We painted the cabinets at one point, but the paint is chipping now, which has made us think we should have just replaced them,” Tenell said with a laugh.
That realization helped inspire the couple’s vision for their grand prize project.
2025 Improveit Sweepstakes Grand Prize Selection
As Improveit’s Grand Prize winners, the Griffins got to choose from three options for their home update: A bathroom remodel, a whole-house window replacement, or a kitchen update. The dream of an updated kitchen won out, and Tenell and Lamonte worked with Improveit design consultant Vinnie Pestano to pick out their new finishes.
Since their current countertops are in great shape, the Griffins will be updating the cabinets only this time around. The new look will feature Shaker-style Grandivew cabinet doors in Egg Shell, a timeless white satin finish, with updated hardware to coordinate with their existing flooring and fixtures. Inside the cabinets, new roll-out shelving will add more functionality, while updated crown molding will finish the cabinets with an elegant look.
