Two-Tone Kitchen Cabinet Refresh in Hamilton, OH
This Hamilton Cabinet refacing project brings great style with a simple, stress-free kitchen remodeling process
When Claudia Rust decided it was time to refresh her kitchen, she had a few key priorities in mind: Update to a new cabinet color, get rid of the laminate countertops, and do it all without the mess and stress of a full remodel.
Her original kitchen featured raised panel honey oak cabinets to match the flooring, and a warm gray laminate countertop. Over the years, the cabinetry finish and laminate surfaces had begun to feel dated, and the countertop was even starting to bubble in spots. Claudia was happy with the overall layout of her kitchen, but was ready for a design that felt fresh and more current.
Designing a Two-Tone Transformation
Working with her Improveit kitchen design consultant, Claudia chose a two-tone cabinet design that completely refreshed the look of her space. She kept the classic raised panel style on all cabinet doors but introduced Norwood-style drawer fronts with a smooth surface with a beveled edge for a clean, transitional look.
The upper cabinets were refaced in a crisp white and finished with elegant crown molding, while the lower cabinets took on a rich, dark blue accented with matching quarter-round trim. The combination brings depth and contrast to the kitchen while keeping it light and inviting.
Fresh, Functional Surfaces
Claudia also opted to replace her kitchens old laminate countertops with Calacatta Idillio quartz, a beautiful bright surface that ties together the white and blue cabinetry while complementing her existing travertine tile backsplash. The new quartz not only looks sleek but makes it easier to see spills and crumbs, which the old pebbled laminate finish tended to hide.
She kept her existing cabinet hardware and original flooring, both in great shape, but added a few functional upgrades: a new 50/50 double bowl stainless steel sink and a pull-down Arbor faucet for modern convenience.
