As we wrap up another busy year of bathroom remodeling, we took a deep dive into our 2025 product report to see what homeowners actually chose for their projects, This fun review doesn’t show us what happens to be trending on social media for five minutes; it’s what real homeowners like you are loving and living with in their homes every day.
This year we’re seeing a clear shift toward timeless materials, low-maintenance design, and subtle personalization, paired with growing interest in safety, comfort, and long-term value.
Light, Timeless Shower Colors Rise to the Top
If there’s one big takeaway from this year, it’s this: homeowners are doubling down on clean, classic shower surrounds – but there’s a twist.
In a notable flip-flop from 2024, Calcutta marble (also called Santorini white) moved into the #1 spot, overtaking white. Last year, white led the pack, but homeowners in 2025 leaned just a bit more into the soft veining and elevated look of marble-inspired designs.
That said, white certainly hasn’t fallen out of favor. More than one in five bathroom projects used classic white shower walls, reinforcing that neutral, bright spaces continue to stand the test of time.
We also saw subtle momentum from Othello and Grayline, two styles that offer a white-tile look with contrasting grout lines. These finishes each climbed three spots in the rankings, proving that classic geometric patterns are as popular as traditional stone looks.
In terms of tile pattern, smooth walls are by far the most popular option, selected by 80% of homeowners. Of the remaining 20%, nearly a quarter each choose Roman Block or 3×6 Subway tile patterns, and 20% choose our Fairfield tile pattern. The best part? 2025 Bathroom Trends: Classic Fixture Styles Still Reign
In 2025, homeowners overwhelmingly chose fixture styles that feel polished, familiar, and versatile, with our Brantford collection coming out on top.
Brantford’s simple elegance continues to appeal to homeowners who want a look that feels finished but not trendy. Gibson followed as the go-to option for those wanting a slightly more modern, geometric feel without going ultra-contemporary.
For finishes on these fixtures, brushed nickel still holds the crown, but lost share compared to last year. Meanwhile, matte black surged to second place, growing nearly 13 percentage points year over year. In fact, matte black usage increased in every market Improveit serves, and it rose to the #1 finish choice in Cincinnati and Dayton. This tells us homeowners are becoming more comfortable using darker finishes as an intentionally contrasting design element.
The Most Popular Bathroom Accessories of 2025
One of the most meaningful insights from our 2025 bathroom trends came from the accessories side.
With bathroom flooring options now available to all Improveit customers, the response has been impressive. Nearly 40% of 2025 bathroom remodels included new flooring, making it the most common add-on of the year.
Grab bars remained a close second, reinforcing an ongoing trend toward safe, comfortable, aging-in-place-friendly design that doesn’t sacrificing style.
