5 New Ways to Bring White and Gray Bathroom Ideas to LifeMar 16, 2023
Marble. Concrete. Granite. You could say the white and gray bathroom trend is written in stone!
The trend toward white and gray bathroom designs is here to stay, and the Improveit design team has proof! From cool gray to light gray bathroom options, natural stone looks to subtle, neutral finishes, our first-hand data shows that projects using white and gray shower surrounds are trending up. In fact, the increase is so significant, that we now have five new white and gray shower wall colors to meet your design needs with even more variety.
White and Gray Bathroom Options growing in popularity
Since 2020, White, Calcutta Marble, and Silver White Marble have ranked as the top three most popular color options for shower walls. Improveit’s design team was excited to see a surprise twist in our 2022 data. Calcutta Marble took the top spot as the most popular shower wall color last year, with white coming in second.
Taking a a closer look at the data, gray shower and bath selections have surged in popularity in the last three years. In 2020, 38% of improveit’s projects featured a gray shower wall. By 2022, that amount jumped to 48%! This increase is due in no small part to three gray-themed shower selections added to our lineup at the beginning of 2021. Classic Concrete, Lightning, and Grayline were well-received in their first year, accounting for almost a third of gray shower design selections, and 10% of the shower surrounds overall.
New Products for White and Gray Bathroom Ideas
Many of the most popular gray shower options homeowners are choosing have been a combination of white and gray. This includes Lightning, Calcutta Marble, and Pompeii Marble (pictured above), which feature gray stone veining on a white background. Finishes like Basket Weave, Charmeuse, and Concrete (pictured at left), have a more even gray tone throughout, but look exceptional with white grout lines.
As the trend continues, we’re excited to introduce five additional white and gray bathroom color options to our offerings for 2023. Together with our existing lineup, these new colors will let homeowners design a white and gray bathroom they’ll love, with even more opportunities to create a unique space that stands out.
Similar to Classic Concrete, this new finish gives a cool, industrial feel with a medium gray stone and scraped plaster effect. Metapeake’s strong, cool appearance finds a perfect match in geometric bath and shower fixtures from the Gibson or Seville collections. Finish the look with a barn-style shower door with visible hardware.
This unique finish incorporates both warm and cool gray tones, densely layered with white to create the look of natural quartz. The finish pairs well with a variety of accent colors and hardware finishes. Warm up Evo with oil-rubbed bronze accessories, go urban with matte black, or brighten the space with chome or brushed nickel.
True to its name, this new creamy light gray bathroom option has the look of loosely woven fabric with an easygoing feel. Linen’s airy appearance pairs perfectly with a white shower base or bathtub, and lends itself well to softer décor selections.
For a marble design with a more linear feel, choose Galena for your bath or shower surround. Streaks of gray veining in this pattern are softly blurred and feature both cool and warm gray highlights on a cool white background. Brushed nickel fixtures make for an excellent Galena pairing.
Combining two popular design trends, London Fog offers a subway tile look, but features gray tile with white grout lines. This wall is perfect for transitional bathroom design, and is a great complement to a variety of white and gray bathroom vanities. For another white and gray subway tile option, consider Grayline, introduced in 2021, with gray grout lines and white tile.
