Keep Your Home Warm with a Soft Winter Color Palette
Jan 13, 2024A warm winter color palette does exist! Here's how to use it around the house
Move over, winter white and evergreen – not all winter design ideas have to start with a cool color palette. This year, our designers pulled from soft and cozy colors to take the edge off the chilliest season of the year. We’ve created some winter design idea boards for bathrooms and kitchens, but these colors and décor selections can be used anywhere in the house.

Soft Winter Color Palette Selections
Muted Mistletoe:
This fun play on traditional holiday colors lets you easily transition your home from winter to spring. Cabinets refaced in a deep green anchor the space, while a lighter, complementary paint color carries the tone into the walls. Creamy accents on the upper cabinets, appliances, and fixtures warm the room, while a beautifully detailed rug ties the space together.
Cabin Escape:
If you can’t get away for the winter in a mountain lodge, your own bathroom is the next best thing! This combination of wood cabinetry, dark finishes, and stone shower walls is begging for a fireplace – or at least a candle during a cozy soak in the tub.
Lavender Daydream:
Lavender walls and linens make a pretty play on ice blue in this bathroom combination, while eucalyptus is a fresh alternative to evergreen. The combination works perfectly with light gray grout and veining in the shower walls and vanity top. Accent the space with soft art and complementary soap bars.

Cinnamon Roll:
We envy the baker that gets to use this beautiful kitchen combination. (Can you smell the cinnamon too, or is that just us?) Starting with a white cabinetry and a beautiful quartz countertop, warm brown walls fill the space with rich color, along with gold accents and warm wood.
Vanilla Cream:
Indulge in the delicious feeling of tone-on-tone creaminess. From Travertine shower walls to cream linens to a buttery wall color, this bathroom gets its visual interest from different textures in the accent pieces, and shine from the brushed nickel shower fixtures. Add a pop of color with warm wall art and attractive plants.
Winter Home Decor Ideas finish the look
Creating mood boards and design inspiration is one of the Improveit team’s favorite passtimes. But countless combinations of bath fixtures, countertops, and kitchen cabinets is just the beginning. We’ve completed these looks with accessories sourced from Target, Lush, West Elm, The Sill, and Smeg.
