Meet the Mascot! The ImproveIt Rhino
Sep 18, 20205 Ways the Rhino is Our Perfect Business Mascot
Building a solid regional business doesn’t happen overnight. At ImproveIt, we’ve spent more than 30 years growing our company and our relationships with the communities we serve in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Louisville, and Lexington. It’s taken a lot of big goals, and the persistence, perseverance, and fortitude to go after them. We know we have the best products in the industry, and the best people building and installing them. We want the whole world to know it too!
All of that eagerness to succeed is embodied in our company mascot: the proud, ambitious rhinoceros.
Inspired by Scott Alexander’s book Rhinoceros Success more than 20 years ago, every goal we’ve set and plan we put into action at ImproveIt is based on strong rhinoceros characteristics. Among those, according to Alexander, are perseverance and persistence, audacity, discipline, and thick skin. Rhinos face every day with vigor and charge after their goals with enthusiasm, and so do we.
ImproveIt team members apply these principles every day. We’re enthusiastic about the quality of our products and people. We’re unapologetic about bucking the trend of good-better-best home improvement models. We only offer the best because our customers only deserve the best. And we share all those messages loud and proud.
To give you more insight into our affinity for the rhino, and to celebrate World Rhino Day on September 22, here are five more characteristics the ImproveIt team shares with our spirit animal.
1. No Natural Predators.
With their sheer size, thick skin, and sharp, prominent horn, rhinos have no natural predators in the wild. From a company standpoint, we know our business model sets us apart from other home improvement companies. Our product quality, energy efficiency, installation expertise, and lifetime warranty commitments are all second-to-none. Other companies just don’t compare.
2. team vision.
Rhinos can charge at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. We see this as a sign of confidence and strength, especially from a team perspective. A rhino herd, called a “crash,” will charge together as a group with great trust. At ImproveIt, our staff collaborates to achieve and exceed company goals. We move forward together in confidence, and we don’t let fear of the unknown prevent us from growing as a company. Together, we win!
3. hightened senses.
Rhinos benefit from heightened senses of both smell and hearing. Like our rhino mascot, we pay close attention to what’s going on around the markets we serve, both within the home improvement industry and in our communities. Our customers are the most valuable part of our business, and we listen to what’s important to you every day. Whether that’s a great installation experience, or a connection to the community, if it’s important to you, it’s important to us.
4. Thick skinned attitude.
One thing we’ve learned from working in window and bath sales is that not every appointment turns into a sale. Sometimes it can be hard to hear that a potential customer has gone different way or decided not to move forward with a project. But rhino skin can be up to two inches thick, so we lean on that when we need to, learning from every customer interaction so we can keep improving in the future.
5. resilience.
Thanks to conservation efforts, rhinos are recovering from being one of the world’s most endangered species. While ImproveIt has grown steadily and with success over three decades, we haven’t been without our challenges. The 2008 housing downturn, and the recent impact of Covid-19 are two examples of times when we’ve had to put our heads down and push through to the other side. Thanks to our dedicated staff, including our project experts, installers, and customer service teams, we’ve been resilient through it all.
As we celebrate World Rhino Day this month, we want to offer a sincere Thank You to all of you: Our amazing customers, dedicated staff, and fantastic sales, installation, and service teams. You all help us embody the bold rhino spirit and we look forward to instilling that in our business for years to come!
