But what does having all of the iPods, cell phones, plasma TVs, entertainment systems, and PC’s mean for the long haul? It means rapid increase in our demand for energy could cause triple the energy demand by 2030 according to the International Energy Agency; which means higher bills for all of us.
Usually when we purchase electricity consuming products, we will examine how much energy a refrigerator or clothes washer will use. Rarely do we consider what a small iPod or cell phone will consume. According to Reuters Reports, our digital gadgets have now surpassed the electric usage of “white goods” like major appliances.
