Energy Awareness
Mar 17, 2009Homeowners across the country are anxious to save money and energy bills through green remodeling. The U.S. Department of Energy believes if current buildings were green improved, they would use $20 billion less energy per year. Green remodeling emphasizes energy efficiency within the home and encourages a ‘whole building’ approach by viewing the home as a bunch of co-dependent pieces working together to make it as energy efficient as possible.
If a homeowner is considering a home improvement project, they should consult with a qualified remodeler to consider different options to make their home more energy efficient. This could include additional insulation, new windows, siding, roofing, or as simple and small as dimmer switches or kitchen and bathroom fixtures that are low flow yet efficient.
When the homeowner understands the importance of how energy efficiency in their home will save them money, make their home more comfortable and make the planet a healthier place to live, everyone will benefit.
