Window Sweepstakes Winners Turn Down the Thermostat on Day One

The high temperature in Dayton on October 30 topped out at just 47 degrees.
The Meyers family was preparing for a chilly Halloween weekend outside, but inside their home, they were nearly ready to turn their furnace off. Justin and Kadi Meyers, official winners of the 2019 ImproveIt Sweepstakes were in the middle of having their brand new grand prize windows installed and could already feel the enormous difference that new, energy-efficient windows were going to make in their home.
“I’ve already had to turn the thermostat down since the new windows started going in,” Kadi told us while installer Morris Mounts and his team were hard at work that chilly fall day. She said the couple knows that small turn of the thermostat dial will make a huge impact on their energy bills this winter and beyond.
Perfect Timing, Amazing Performance
New windows had been on the Meyers’ radar since they bought their house in 2017. Some were leaking, some were cracked or broken, and many were yellowed with cigarette residue from previous owners. After a series of unrelated home improvement issues delayed the purchase of new windows, the Meyerses came across ImproveIt at the 2019 Fairborn Halloween Festival and entered the ImproveIt Sweepstakes for a chance to win a houseful of new windows.
Luck of the draw brought that opportunity back to the forefront. “I’m really looking forward to our heating bills going down this winter, and I can’t wait for the new window in the baby’s room,” Kadi says, noting that their toddler daughter’s bedroom is always the coldest room in the house in the winter and hottest in the summer. “From the time they showed up, it felt like we had family members in our home,” Kadi says. “We walked through the house showing them which windows were being replaced and I mentioned a problem with our sliding glass door, even though that wasn’t part of our project. Morris and his team showed me how to fix the problem and gave me a few extra tips that will help me maintain our house. It was really helpful.”
Justin agrees. “Everyone at ImproveIt has been so passionate about making sure we’re comfortable in our home,” he says. “You can tell it’s not just a gimmick because they haven’t been salesy about it. Like when we mentioned the problem with the door, they gave us real help instead of just trying to sell us a new door. It shows they really care.”
